I grew up with Sandra in Watrous, SK and shared each other's joy at our weddings, two weeks apart, and re-connected when we celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversaries. Her sweet, caring personality clearly carried on throughout her life as a wife, mother and grandmother, and my heart goes out to Doug, Mandy, Ryan and Chris and their families. May the sharing of your beautiful memories keep her close to your hearts forever.

The Dash Poem
by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end

He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years

For the dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth

For it matters not how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

Doug and family; please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your wife, mother, and grandmother.

Ken and I send sincere condolences , and love to the whole Cooke family,
As I have prayed for Sandra's family, especially for Doug and Mandy I remembered my first meeting of Sandra , in their home at a bible study , how peaceful the atmosphere was, how sincerely Doug and Sandra shared the word of God ... and then there was this sweet smiling little girl , Mandy "right beside " her momma.
I absolutely believe that Our Fathers love Is tender , merciful and kind . His wisdom is great amd too awesome for us to fully understand on this side of eternity . His house is a house of loving communion with Him, there is a great banqueting table , celebrations and worship non stop, there is awe filled silence and joyous laughter , always in our Fathers house . The Lord Knows the name and heart of all of his children, they know His voice and can not refuse it .
I saw a exraordinary picture of a beautiful girl running joyfully down a path that led to an ancient and weathered woodened door , the house so large I could not take it all in ,there were dancing slashes of colours, like flowers , all around and alongside the path , I wanted to smell the beautiful fragrance and feel the warmth of the purest of light that was the sky, the air, the atmosphere . Then the ancient door opened! ...and I knew then that the beautiful girl was going home and she was so very very happy.
So for me , Sandra has gone home to her Fathers house, she heard his voice , she could not refuse his love and compassion and victoriously surrendered to His unfailing Love .

You have impacted my life and showed me your love for Jesus, because of the way you loved people. You always had an open home and made us feel part of the family. Youth group, yc trip, Madge Lake, etc. I can still hear your laugh and soft voice. I remember late night conversations as we talked about our walks and Love for the Cross. Thank you for saying yes. Yes in every chance you could spread His Love and help us find our confidence in Christ. Until we meet again. I thank the Lord our paths cross. Always loved.

To Doug and family. Dr hildebrand from briercrest college used to say that a saint was promoted to glory. Sandra has been promoted. We celebrate together this, as believers. For her this is good. For us, it's sad and lonely.
We wish you Gods closeness during this time. May you rely on His immense strength and know that He will carry you through.

A TRAVELER COMING HOME

A traveler ventured forth one day
upon a long and winding road
with faith and trust to lead the way
with strength and will to bear her load

and at a slow but steady pace
in cold of storm, in warmth of sun
she journeyed on from place to place
and gained some value from each one

until at last one quiet night
she climbed a hill's soft rounding crest
and saw afar a single light
that seemed to promise peace and rest.

Then following its glow, she came
upon the house in which it shone.
A voice inside called out her name
and told her she was truly home.

Now all of us must travel, too.
Like her, our paths wind slowly on
and surely when the course is through
a welcome comfort waits beyond.

May we believe that sweet content
is earned by all of those miles passed
and never doubt each traveler’s meant
to reach a loving home at last.

Oh, Mrs. Cooke:
I just wanted to thank you for all the help you gave me in grade 3. You were so patient and helped me so often with so many things that I don’t really go a day without doing something that you taught me. So today I will write in cursive and lign up the tops of my lower case letters, just as you taught me. When I review addition with my daughter tonight, I will tell her the trick you taught me about carrying the numbers. I will read to her and look ahead to the next word before saying it aloud. I will put on my wedges with the woven straps and think of how you always wore them with your rust colored jumper. I will stand up straight, smile and breathe deeply when I sing. And I will put my head down on my desk, just for a minute, when the world gets to be a little bit too much. The sun is a little dimmer today because you are gone, but it will get brighter when I do each of these things again. Thanks for being a bright spot in my childhood. And no, I still haven’t read that pop-up Skylab book all the way to the end.
