Mildred Caroline Alexus
January 18, 1926 ~ January 23, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years OldMildred Caroline Alexus of Benito, Manitoba passed away in the Swan Valley Lodger on January 23, 2016 at the age of 90 years.
Mildred has been born in Alpine, Manitoba on January 18th, 1926 to Eric and Lorna Eliason. She received her education at the Alpine School.
On October 30, 1946, Mildred married Gunder Alexus in the Kenville United Church, sadly Gunder passed away on January 14, 1993.
During Mildred’s life she lived and farmed in the Alpine District until 1990. Mom then moved into Thunderhill Court in Benito until December 2014. Mildred was active in the Farmers Union along with Gunder in the 1950’s; 4-H Club Leader, and the “Alpine Sewing Sisters” in the 1950-1960’s.
Mildred leaves to mourn her daughter Carol (Carl) of Morinville, Alberta; son Leonard (Sylvia) of Alpine; Son Darryl (Becky) of Beinfait, Saskatchewan; sisters Velma of Winnipeg, Olive of Benito, Glen (Mary) of Calgary and Lloyd (Elenor) of Vancouver; sister-in-law Janis; and by 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Gunder; parents Eric and Lorna; sisters Grace and Audrey; son-in-law Brian; and by her brother Ted.
Should friends so desire, memorial donations in Mildred’s memory may be made to the Diabetic Association or to the Swan River Valley Health Centre.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Swan Valley Lodge, for the care that they gave mom.
Cremation has taken place at Heritage Memorial Gardens, Swan River, Manitoba.
A service will be held in the Spring of 2016.
