Our dad and grandpa, William Samuel Terekoff, was born to Samuel and Nellie Terekoff on October 15, 1945 in the RM of Livingston, in Saskatchewan. He passed away at the Morris General Hospital, Morris Manitoba on February 5, 2020, reaching the age of 74 years. It was a bright sunny day on the day of his birth and also on the day of his passing.
William grew up with two brothers on the family farm in Saskatchewan. Later moving to the Swan River area where he finished his education in Benito, Manitoba. When he finished school, he moved to Swan River and taught in a country school for a year. He headed back to Saskatchewan to work in Esterhazy as a first aid attendant during the construction of the K2 mine. Once the mine was in operation, he worked for the company as the flotation operator. He moved back to Manitoba to pursue his vocation as a first aid attendant for 8 years at Inco Nickel Mine in Thompson. During this time Dad met and married mom, Joan Barret. He started selling cars and real estate and after two years he decided to move back to Swan River, where he continued in real estate and marketing modular homes, while also farming.
Approximately 17 years ago he moved to the Morris area, where he could be closer to his son and family. His grandsons were the highlight of his life, often giving them treats when they came to visit or run errands for him.
Some of his hobbies included woodworking and fishing. He had a great talent in buying, selling and trading items. It would bring him a thrill to make a good deal.
Those left with memories are: his son Bill and wife Danita; grandsons, Gregory, Darren and Nathan; one step-daughter, Linda and her husband Bob Gryce; grandchildren, Emily and Andrew and one brother Peter Terekoff.
William was predeceased by: his parents, wife, one brother, one sister-in-law and two nephews.
We, as a family, would like to express appreciation to the paramedics as well as the doctors, nurses and staff at Morris General Hospital. We would like to offer a special thanks to MCC and Co-op Gas Bar and Big Way foods for accommodating his needs.
