Dwight Stewart Obituary

With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa and husband and friend on January 28, 2021 at the Swan Valley Lodge.

Dwight was born on March 18, 1943 to Clifford and Beulah Stewart nee Fierstine. He was raised and spent most of his adult years, except for a few years in Thompson, in the Swan River Valley where he made many friends and raised his family. He was a valued member of the community and volunteered countless hours as a Lions member, volunteer firefighter, Bowsman curling rink, Swan Valley Hospital Board, and many other charities. He loved dressing up and driving around and playing “Santa” on Christmas eve which he did for or many years.

He met our mom Mary Jane Upton and were married on October 3, 1970.

Family was everything to Dad. He was always interested in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. He would give anyone the shirt off his back, was always there to help in anyway, and never wanted anything in return. He had a heart of gold. He coached many various sports that Twilla and James were involved in.

Dad is survived by; his children Twilla (Peter) of Calgary, AB, and James (Samantha) of Whitehorse, YK; grandchildren James (Jaymee) Chocholik, Brooke and Sydney Stewart and Great Grandson Wyatt Douglas; sisters in law Therese Shulman and Shirley Upton; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dwight is predeceased by; his wife Mary Jane, his parents Clifford and Beulah (Donald Craig), sisters Margurite and Leone, brothers Charles and Walter and brothers in law Fraser Vessey, Henry Upton and Richard Shulman.

Dad, we thank you for your unconditional love, help and guidance. You are and will be greatly loved and missed. We have you forever in our hearts and are so blessed to have had him as our father. Dad will be remembered for his love of his children and grandchildren, his sense of humor, smile, twinkle in his eye and his laugh. He loved going camping and fishing to Whitefish lake!!!

In keeping with Dwight’s wishes,

cremation has taken place and

a service will be held at a later date, with

burial in the Bowsman Cemetery, Bowsman,  Manitoba.
