It is with a sad heart we announce the passing of Melvin (Mel) Phillips on June 14th, 2018 at the age of 73 years.
Remaining to cherish Mel’s memory are his wife Lynda; sister Mary Butler (Steve) of England; several nephews and nieces; his god children and sister-in-law Nancee Grundy (Russell). Mel will be sadly missed by his many friends.
Mel was predeceased by his mother Jessie Phillips; niece Dominque Butler; both sets of grandparents and his mother and father-in-law.
Mel was born in 1944 in England, he came to Canada at the age of 19. He worked in Thompson for Inco Nickel Mines for approx. 10 years. Lyn and Mel moved to Swan River in 1974 and Mel was employed by the Town of Swan River for Water works until his early retirement in 1993.
Mel had a passion and zest for life as evidence by his many interests; people, photography, tropical fish, antiques, fishing, cooking, camping, horses – just to name a few. A great story went with each of his adventures.
In compliance with Mel’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. A small private gathering of family and friends will be held at a late date to honour his life and memory.
