Joni Kematch Obituary

It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of mom, sister, Auntie, niece, Cousin, Step-sister, Step-daughter, Godchild and a good friend Joni Georgette Kematch (Moore). She left to the spirit world at the tender age of 38 years in Vancouver, B.C.

Joni was born to Florestine Kematch and Alfred Campeau (Chipoo) on May 27th, 1980 in Swan River, MB. Her mom married Andrew (Jam-on-it) Kematch whom she loved so dearly and became her step-dad. In her younger years she lived with her granny Georgina Campeau, until her granny’s illness took her and could no longer care for her.

Joni went to school in The Pas, MB at KCC and there she graduated Grade 12. While taking classes/programs in Winnipeg, MB she was blessed with her one and only child her son, her pride and joy, whom she loved so dearly; Isaiah Reeve Thomas Kematch.

When she would come visit in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation she would always make it a priority to go do her rounds and go all over to visit friends, cousins and family members. She also loved the company of her BFF Faith Chartrand and enjoyed their lunch dates at Vancouver, BC and being with her uncle Alex Moore, family and her son.

Joni was the type of person that could not stay in one place for too long. She loved to “travel” and live place to place, Swan River, Dauphin, Winnipeg, The Pas, Thompson, Flin Flon, Nelson House, Brandon, London, ON and ended up living in Vancouver. Where she resided to be close to her son Isaiah.

She leaves to mourn in her passing, her one and only son Isaiah Kematch; step-dad Andrew (Jam-on-it) Kematch; sisters Jermaine (Leon) of Sapotaweyak and Reena ; step-sisters Roxanne (Willie) Lavallee, Lorna Brass, Genevieve and Janita; step-brothers Johnny (Rose) and   Family and Nick (Amanda) and family; brothers Andy (Demoley) Kematch and Ricky; uncles Alex (Susan) Moore of Vancouver, Eugene (Leona) Moore of Winnipeg and Patsy (Mike) O’hyrn; aunties Grace (Pepperch) of Sapotaweyak, Frances Cook, Rachel (Charles) Cook, Margaret and Doris Leask; koo-kum Lina Gott; bff Faith Chartrand; nieces/nephews, aunts/uncles, and many friends she met during her time of “travelling”, childhood buddies, too numerous to mention.

Joni was predeceased by her mom Florestine; brother Anthony Kematch; sister Roxanne Moore; dad Alfred (Chipoo) Campeau; grandparents Thomas (Boxer) and Eliza Moore, Georgina Campeau, Clarence Campeau; auntie Ruby Campeau; uncle Albert Moore and many other aunts and uncles too numerous to  name. (Sorry if anyone was missed) Joni will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The Kematch and Moore family would like to thank you all for your support in our time of need.
