Gail Marie Reader

Gail Marie (Thiessen) Reader was born July 10, 1975 to Martin and Elma Thiessen, in Lethbridge, AB.  She finished her earthly journey at age 44 on November 29, 2019, peacefully, at home in Swan River, MB.

Gail’s school years were spent in Waldheim, SK.  She believed in Jesus as her Savior at a young age and was baptized in her later teens.  Her parents and siblings had many adventures going camping and taking summer road trips.  She had a variety of jobs in her teen years including a groundskeeper, gardener, and golf course employee but she especially treasured doing concrete work alongside her father.

Gail spent a year at Nipawin Bible College.  Not only did this help solidify her faith, it also changed the direction of her future.  It didn’t take her long to realize that Patrick Reader was God’s chosen partner for her.  They were married on March 30, 1996 in Waldheim, SK and she began the next chapter of her life in Swan River, MB.

Gail had many hobbies like reading and painting and she excelled at whatever she put her hand to.  She could drive a dirt-bike and snow-machine, but also loved singing and baking.  She made many friends in various jobs; doing crop roguing, working as a cashier at Co-op, educational assistant, and through her sewing  business.  She made special memories working for her father-in-law at Father’s Repair.  

She and Patrick welcomed their daughter Emily in 2004, and son Trent in 2006.  Gail loved being home to raise her children.  She found time for side-jobs dry-walling, sewing, and driving school bus, in addition to being a dedicated home-schooler.  Gail loved children and they loved her, which led her to work at various Bible camps.

As a family, they enjoyed camping and spending time together.  In 2012 they moved to South Carolina for two years, following a strong call to further their Biblical training.  

Gail’s faith and trust in God was the center of her life and her love for Him poured out to those around her.  It was this dependence on God that carried her through.

Gail leaves to mourn her husband Patrick and children Emily and Trent, parents Elma and Martin Thiessen, siblings Gary (Tobey), (Luke, Kenya), Gloria (Chris) Orton, Michael, and Daniel (Mandy).  She will also be missed by Earl and Shirley Reader, and Ken (Karla) Reader (Wyatt, Levi, Joshua, Caleb, Alexander).  She was predeceased by her grandparents, and nephew, Jarred Armstrong.
