Edna Florence Brisebois

Edna Florence Brisebois (nee Moosetail) of Pine Creek First Nation passed away at the Dauphin Regional Hospital on Monday, August 27th, 2018 at the age of 79 years.

Edna was born in Swan River on January 4th, 1939 to Paul and Catherine (Ducharme) Moosetail.

Edna was predeceased by her husband Maxime Brisebois on April 25, 2018;  father Paul on July 21, 1992; mother Catherine on December 9, 1985; brother Gordon on December 2, 1998 and Ernest on December 23, 1973 and by her sister Albina on June 9, 2002.

Edna was raised at Pine Creek, where she received her education, then left to attend Teachers College in Lebreet, Saskatchewan, where she received her Teachers Certificate. Edna was the first family member to graduate and the first to graduate from the community of Pine Creek.

Edna taught school in Skownan, Manitoba in a one room school house for several years till she decided to leave and teach at Guy Hill Residential School in The Pas, Manitoba. The Pas is where she met Maxime and they both move to Thompson, and were married on March 14, 1970. Edna worked for Canada Post for over 25 years untill she retired and moved to Pine Creek in 1998.

Edna loved to knit and crochet and enjoyed spending time with her siblings,  especially cheating Christiane at cards. She enjoyed watching her cooking shows, looking after her flower beds, shopping or just simply driving around with her sister Shirley.

Edna moved in with her daughter Cynthia and son-in-law Larry in March, where she received Home Care untill her passing. Her sister Florestine was her Heath Care Aid, who she enjoyed having daily chats with. She would get so disappointed if Florestine was not coming to work.

Edna leaves to mourn her passing; daughter Cynthia (Larry); son Roland (Naomi); four grandsons Larry Jr., Dione, Grant and Jaycen; five great-grandchildren Tashton, Tasha, Tannah, Lucus, Lexie and another baby boy arriving in February of 2019; sisters Christiane, Rose, Marie, Shirley (Michael), Florestine (George), Rita (John), Bev (Roy); brother Harry (Agnes); sister-in-law Beatrice Moosetail and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
