Mary Jane Stewart

With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, wife and friend on April 28th, 2020 at the Swan Valley Hospital.

Mary Jane was born on October 21st, 1940 to Edward and Gladys Upton. She was raised and spent most of her adult years, except for a few years in Thompson, in the Swan River Valley where she made many friends and raised her family. She was a valued member of the community she loved.

She met our dad Dwight Stewart and were married on October 3, 1970.

Family was everything to Mom. She was always interested in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She was always there to help in anyway she could and never wanted anything in return. She had a heart of gold. 

Mom is survived by her husband Dwight Stewart; her children Twilla (Peter) of Calgary, AB, and James (Samantha) of Whitehorse, YK; sister Therese Shulman, sister in law Shirley Upton; grandchildren James Chocholik (Jaymee), Brooke and Sydney Stewart and Great Grandson Wyatt, and many nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by; her parents Edward and Gladys Upton; brother Henry Upton, and brother in law Richard Shulman.

Mom, we thank you for your unconditional love, help and guidance. You are and will be greatly loved and missed. We have you forever in our hearts and are so blessed to have you as our mother. Mom will be remembered for her love of her children and grandchildren, her smile, her laugh, her kind-heartedness, and her delicious family meals.

In keeping with mom’s wishes cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date. 

If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
