It is with great sadness we announce that on February 28, 2021, Jennifer Lee DeBruin passed away suddenly in Swan River, MB at the age of 44. Jennifer was a wonderful and devoted mother and the best little sister one could ever ask for.
Jennifer was born in Swan River, MB on September 13, 1976, to Lloyd and Florence DeBruin and was the youngest of 4 daughters.
Jennifer attended school in Birch River up to Grade 9, then carried on with High School at SVRSS. After graduation, Jennifer attended Assiniboine Community College in Dauphin where she successfully completed her Business Administration Certification in 1997. In 1998, after the loss of her mom, Jennifer returned to Birch River to help Dad on the farm. After a few years, Jennifer moved to Swan River where she worked at various positions, mainly at Dairy Queen. While at the Dairy Queen, she worked alongside Divona for many years and they became dear friends. In 2008, Jennifer decided she wanted a change. She attended University College of the North taking the Health Care Aide Certification course, which she successfully completed in 2009. Jennifer began her career at Swan Valley Health Centre shortly after completing the certification where she remained until her passing. Jennifer was always looking for opportunities to be orientated in different departments within the facility. In 2015, Jennifer ventured off to Brandon to work on her Medical Device Reprocessing Certification, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Upon return, she worked in the department on a casual basis alongside Stacey, Debbie, and Danielle until she was able to secure a permanent position. While waiting for a permanent position in MDR, Jennifer took a position in the Staffing Department at SVHC.
Although many saw Jennifer as a very quiet person that kept everything close to her chest (so to speak), they did not get to see and know the sassy side. That was reserved for a small group of friends and family. Jennifer enjoyed her outings with her friends and work family, and that was where most got to see her beautiful smile and feisty side. Jennifer was also a union activist and represented and supported many in her role.
Jennifer is survived by her loving son Austin, 3 loving sisters, Debbie (Al) Mortimer, Cindy (Ken) Braymore, Karen (Mark) Cleaver. Three Nieces/Nephews: Kerrissa, Kristin and Kaitlyn, Leslie, Chad and Kevin, and 9 great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Lloyd and Florence and grandparents Anthony & Viola DeBruin and John & Hazel Reich.
