Jean Adamchuk Obituary

Marion Jane Adamchuk (Jean)

It’s with much sadness we as a family announce the passing of Mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother Jean Adamchuk. Jean passed away on October 8, 2021, at the Swan Valley Health Center after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Jean was born on October 7, 1940, in Bowsman to Phyllis and Earl Campbell. She received her education at McKay School and her high school years in Bowsman then choose to enter Teachers College in Winnipeg. Her teaching career took her to Shoal River for one year.

On September 3, 1960, in Bowsman she married the love of her life, Peter Adamchuk. They resided on the farm in the RM of Minitonas for 52 years till dad’s passing in November of 2012. They were blessed with two children Lynne in July 1961 and Michael in May of 1964.

Mom worked side by side with dad on the farm doing the daily activities of farm life. She always had a large garden and took great pride in preserving the produce. She enjoyed berry picking and making jam and canning fruit.

Mom’s interest included reading, doing puzzles and gardening. She was involved with various organizations thru out her life, including 4-H as a leader, The Age Friendly Advisory Committee in Minitonas, The Anglican Church Women, The United Church Women, the worship committee at the Knox United Church and was co-chair for the Minitonas Homecoming History Book in 1978.

Mom’s greatest joy was attending her grandchildren’s extra circular activities whether it be sporting events, 4-H or school activities, rain or shine grandma and grandpa were there to cheer on the grandchildren. Grandma was very proud of each of their accomplishments.

After dad’s passing mom moved to the Pioneer First Baptist Lodge in Minitonas where she enjoyed the fellowship of new friends. She built many a puzzle in the 8 plus years she resided there. Her week was busy as Tuesday was Seniors at the Minitonas Town hall playing shuffle or games. Wednesday was the Adult Leisure Program at the Swan Valley Lodge and Thursday it was coffee time with the girls at Holmstead Emporium.
