It is with deep sadness that the family of Corinna Torfason (Sims) announces her passing on June 19, 2026, at the age of 58. Corinna passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, following a brief battle with brain cancer.

Born on January 29, 1968, in Swan River, Manitoba, Corinna lived a life defined by compassion, dedication, and love for her family. She was known for her kind heart, quiet strength, and willingness to put others before herself.

Corinna worked as a Healthcare Aide before pursuing a career as an Early Childhood Educator. In both roles, she touched countless lives through her patience, gentle nature, and genuine care for others. Whether caring for seniors or helping children learn and grow, she approached her work with the same compassion that defined her life.

Outside of her work, Corinna found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and spending time with those she loved. Her home was often a gathering place where family and friends were welcomed with warmth, comfort, and a freshly prepared treat.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Garry Torfason; her children, Steven James Oscar Torfason (Danielle), Brittany Tamara Collinge (David), and Alicia May Torfason (Joseph); her parents, Lois Merle and Edwin Allan Sims; her siblings, Kevin Edmond Sims, Tanya Marlene Keller, and Tara Maureen Poole; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

More than any title she held, Corinna treasured being a grandmother. Her grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to her life, and she delighted in sharing in their milestones, adventures, and everyday moments.

Corinna's greatest joy was being Nanny. She leaves behind seven grandchildren who brought endless happiness to her life: Nathan David Collinge, Alexis Rylee Collinge, and Ezra Joseph Garry Plesh; and her cherished bonus grandchildren, Brianna Elizabeth Jane Wilson, Lexie Sophia Paige Olson, Phoenix Olivia Neepin Olson, and Hazel Harmony Ann Olson, all of whom she loved dearly.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the healthcare professionals, family members, and friends who provided care, support, and compassion throughout Corinna's illness.

Prayers will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Paull Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Birch River Legion Hall. Following the service, Corinna will be laid to rest at Crandell Cemetery in Birch River, Manitoba.

Honoured to serve as pallbearers are Kristjan Torfason, Jesse Torfason, Dustin Harasymko, Bryan Bevan, Devin Primrose, and Joseph Slepicka.

If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made in Corinna's memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Corinna will be remembered for the kindness she showed, the lives she touched, and the love she shared so freely. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and in the family she cherished above all else.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
