Winonah Leask Obituary

Winonah (Nona Girl) Leask, left tragically between July 11th and July 13rd, 2018 at Sapotaweyak Cree   Nation.  Winonah left many happy memories for her mother, her father, her siblings and her friends.  Nona loved her children, Raedee and Akeelah, whom she missed daily. And in her heart, she loved both so very much.

Winonah Summersun Leask was born in Swan River, Manitoba on March 25th, 1994 to her parents, Hughie and Delores Leask.  Nona girl was      baptized into the Anglican faith.

Her childhood events will be remembered and cherished.  Nona was very talented in playing violin and Nona would play the fiddle while her Dad played guitar. Nona loved her nieces dearly, Gwendolyn, Rebekah, Kyla, Alayna, Vayda, Kendra, and Julia, her nephews Thomas, Terrance, and Anaustin.

Nona will be missed by her closest friends Destiny, Deanne, Freda,     Christina, Renee, Windy, Amos, and many others.

She is survived by her grandfather, Roderick Genaille. Her aunts, Cheryl, Jennifer, Selena, Della, and Nora, Nelson, Bruce, Hubert, Edward, Dionne, Rubin, and Vincent.  Nona’s many first cousins, from Saskatchewan and from many places in Manitoba.

Winonah left with her empathy so great. Her parents ask God and all His Angels, that Nona’s spirit for sharing her heartfelt kindness will be felt by her children, her siblings and her many friends.  With God’s love and    understanding, Nona’s spirit will remain in His arms for eternity.

Nona was predeceased by her grandparents, Martha and Pearly Leask and Helen Genaille and her    great-grandparents, Julia and Albert Cook and Ada and Louis Genaille, her uncles. Nona

First off, I will miss you, Mom.  You took me as your own and I will never ever forget how happy, just you and me.  We were driving around, playing music of course!  I can still hear your voice and laughter, your smile.  Even if we always got mad at each, we always got through our ups and downs and that is what I love about you.  You never gave up on me, you were my      support, my rock.  I will miss our talks, laughs, man, my twin.  I’ll miss when you would say, “Man, we look alike, course you!”

As you always called me, “layn’z”

Love always, Alayna

“My best friend is everything to me without her, life wouldn’t be the same she’s the better part of me.”

I love you, my sister, I will be missing you dearly, forever and always.

Love

Freda Elizabeth Leask

P.S.  We did everything together!
