Patricia Violet Boyd Sims
With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend on January 26th, 2018 at the Swan Valley Hospital.
Mom was born December 10th, 1922 to James and Hilda Dawkins at Emsworth, Hampshire, England. The family later moved to Newhaven, East Sussex. She met our dad Fred Sims Jr. at a dance at the Drove Hall. They married at St. Michael’s Parish Church on November 6th, 1943. Mom came to Bowsman in June of 1945 as one the first War Brides.
Family was everything to Mom. She was always interested in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She was always there to help in anyway she could and never wanted anything in return. She had a heart of gold.
Mom is survived by her children Mel (Sylvan Lake, AB), Valerie and David (Dieppe, NB) and Audrey (Bowsman); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister Audrey Snell (Lencing, West Sussex, England); brother-in-law Ted Sims (Doris of Alberni, B.C.); many nieces and nephews and by her War Bride and best friend of 72 years Muriel Hall.
Mom was predeceased by her soulmate, husband Fred on August 22nd, 1994; her parents James and Hilda; brothers Massey and Eric; sisters Peggy, Stella and Valerie; two infant sons; grandson Devon and daughter-in-law Rose.
Mom, we thank you for your unconditional love, help and guidance. You are and will be greatly loved and missed. We have you forever in our hearts and are so blessed to have you as our mother.
When the world is all at odds,
And the mind a stormy sea,
Take some quiet time alone
And have a cuppa tea.
It soon will be a lovely place,
I’m there with you, you see….
I will be every single time
You pour a cuppa tea
Cremation has taken place at
Heritage Memorial Gardens,
Swan River, Manitoba.
