Mabel was born to Herbert and Elsie Bowman at home in the Roaring River District.

Her early years were spent in the Roaring River area and in Swan River.

At age 18, she moved out to Saskatchewan where she was employed as a helper in the Rathje family home. In May of 1950, she married Freddie Rathje, and continued to live and work on the family farm. They had four children; Susan, Henry, Colleen and Perry. In 1963, she lost Freddie to cancer, but continued to farm with her father and mother-in-law.

In 1970, Mabel moved back to Swan River and worked at the Swan Motel, Minitonas Community Store and also in home care. In 1976, Mabel moved to Minitonas, with her chickens, and met John Todosichuk, who she bought chicken feed from.

On December 12th, 1982, Mabel and John were married and enjoyed 25 special years together. Mabel loved the farm years spent with John, and both their families and friends.

Mabel loved the outdoors; from her chickens, turkeys, dogs, and cats; fishing and hunting; picking wild berries, mushrooms and gardening. She had a passion for puzzles, cribbage, and especially playing bingo and just enjoying the company of friends and was a member of the Legion for many years. Mabel will be remembered for her smile and good humour.

Mabel is predeceased by her parents Herbert and Elsie Bowman; husbands Freddie Rathje and John Todosichuk; son Perry Rathje; sister Kathleen Campell and brother (John) Robert Rapley.

To mourn her death and celebrate her life Mabel leaves her son Henry Rathje of Watrous, Saskatchewan; daughters Susan Dengler of Watrous, Saskatchewan and Colleen (Don) Ames of Minitonas; daughter-in-law Rhea Rathje of North Battleford, Saskatchewan; grandchildren Alan Poole, Bernadine (Bruce) Yeo, Tracy (Doug) Munro, Sherry Harapiak, Becky (Lenny Day) Ames, and Lesia Rathje; great-grandchildren Christina and Jessica Poole, Jack and Grant Yeo, Randy and James Munro, Aurora and Brody Harapiak, Theo and Katelyn Day and numerous nieces and nephews.
