It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Isabella Watts at the age of 82 on April 6th, 2018 at the Swan River Valley Hospital. Isabel (as most people knew her) was the second child born to David and Cora Hill in Bowsman, Manitoba.
In 1954 she married Peter Watts and over the following 18 years had six children. Barry (Karen) Watts of St. Albert, Alberta; Val (Fred) Kowalko of Victoria, B.C.; Ron (Marlene) Watts of Mississauga, Ontario; Brent (Lori) Watts of Lenswood, Manitoba; Joy (Roger) Brown of Nanaimo, B.C. and Tracey (Brian) LaForce of Swan River, Manitoba. These six children gave Isabel 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life.
Isabel spent many years teaching. Her first teaching position was at Avonlea School in 1953. Over the next 40 or so years, she had many different teaching positions with her last job being at the Birch River School. Eventually Isabel moved from the family farm to Swan River where her social life blossomed. Very rarely did a day go by where Isabel wasn’t out visiting or volunteering somewhere. Isabel loved to watch curling and baseball and would never miss a good crib game. She looked forward each month to getting together with her birthday lunch group. She had a big heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand. She will be forever missed.
Isabel is survived by her brother Jim (Mary) Hill and was predeceased by her parents David and Cora Hill as well as her older brother Donald (Evelyn) Hill and her younger sister Nellie (Harold) Sauder.
She has gone up to heaven to see them once again.
