In keeping with Olive’s wishes cremation will take place. She will be laid to rest with a private family interment in the Heritage Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Swan River, MB on a warm summer day in July 2024.
Surrounded by love and cherished memories from a life well lived, Mom passed away at the Benito Health Center at the age of 93.
Mom was born in Alpine to Lorna and Eric Eliason. With siblings Mildred, Velma, Grace, Audrey, Lloyd, Glen, Ted and cousin Sidney, the family worked hard during the day. In the evenings when the work was done, their home was filled with music and laughter.
In 1950 Mom married Folke Alexus. Together they farmed in Alpine while raising two daughters. Their door was always open and the coffee always on. Mom was a member of the Christian Women’s Association and volunteered at the Alpine Community Center. Later, she volunteered at the Benito Health Center, sharing her love of music with friends and residents.
Following Dad’s passing in 2007, Mom moved to Benito, and later made her home at the Benito Health Center.
She will be dearly missed by daughters Arlene (Doug) and Lillian (Don), granddaughter Ashley (Ben), great grandchildren Quinn and Will, her special friend Fred, and other friends and family. Mom, we are going to miss the SkipBo games, the strong Swedish coffee, and your perfect harmonizing voice. How Mom loved to sing.
We are forever grateful to the staff at the Benito Health Center for their exceptional care and compassion. Mom always said, “They take such good care of me.” Special thanks to “Team Olive” – Pat, Donald, Jennifer, George, Doreen, Frank, Louise, John, John, Joan & Rudy. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Benito Health Center.
Tack for allt Mamma!
