It is with thanksgiving for the life of William “Bill” Posnikoff that the family announces his passing on August 9th, 2017, at his home in Benito, Manitoba at the age of 54 years. Bill was born in the Benito Hospital on August 4th, 1963 to the late Sam and Lilian Posnikoff. He received his education in Benito and Swan River.

During his life he collected hobbies of a tinkerer including interests in electrical, automotive and computers. He enjoyed spending time with his pals around Benito as well as visits with his family.

Bill dabbled in a few different types of employment during his life. He went to trade school in 1985 to become a heavy duty mechanic and around 1986 he worked on a fishing boat on the west coast. From there Bill worked for the Foam Lake RM crushing gravel for a contractor. He also worked at the Cigar Lake Uranium Mine doing above ground maintenance and then for Dercatch Farms repairing heavy equipment. Bill spent his idle time in the Arran, Saskatchewan area and then he made his way towards home in Benito where he passed away in his sleep.

Bill was predeceased by: his parents Sam and Lilian Posnikoff; his sister Pam and his brother Lawrence.

Left to cherish Bill’s memory are: Sam (Patty) Posnikoff, Waldren (Linda) Posnikoff, Matthew (Gale) Posnikoff, Julia Strots, David Posnikoff, Dan Posnikoff, Janice Posnikoff as well as numeroud nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A graveside service for Bill was held on Friday, August 25th, 2017 at the Benito Cemetery where Bill was laid to rest in the family plot. Darlyn Hunt officiated. Cremation has taken place and Paull Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.

Following the funeral service a time of fellowship was held from the Benito Legion Hall hosted by the Benito Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Should friends and relatives so desire, memorial donations, in Bill’s honour, may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
