Peacefully on August 15, 2009, William (Bill) Morgan-Smith of Minitonas, Manitoba, passed away in the Swan Valley Hospital at the age of 78 years, with his family at his side.

He was born February 25, 1931 in Fort William, Ontario (Thunder Bay District), son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Anthony Morgan-Smith.

Bill was raised and educated in Fort William, and married Jacqueline Joy on November 20, 1954; she predeceased him on March 19, 1991.

Bill lived in such places as Fort William and The Pas, and settled in Minitonas in the early 1980’s.
He retired from the Manitoba Civil Service in 1993.  He was a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort William, The Pas, and Swan River.  Bill’s main interests were his family and friends, sports and small wood crafting.

Bill leaves to mourn his longtime loving partner Helen, and his children Richard of The Pas, Manitoba, Jackie (Richard) of Canora, Saskatchewan, Sheila (Walter) of Minitonas, Manitoba, Rodney of Minitonas, Manitoba, Gail of Angus, Ontario, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Cremation has taken place at Heritage Memorial Gardens, Swan River, Manitoba, and a family memorial service will be held at a later date when his ashes will be laid to rest in Ashern, Manitoba.

Special thank you to Dr. Theodore, and the nursing staff and aides, and an “extra” special thank you to Blaine, for all the loving care and support given to Bill (Dad) and family.

Paull Funeral Home and Crematorium are honoured to have served the family.
