It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Thomas Joseph Parker announce his passing on Sunday October 9, 2016.

Thomas was born on February 10th, 1921 in Grenville, Saskatchewan. Tom was the youngest son of James and Emma Parker and grew up with 12 siblings on their family farm in the Qu’appelle Valley, Saskatchewan. Tom worked along side his brothers doing mechanics for a short time in Dauphin before he purchased farming land and moved to Birch River.

It was here in Birch River that Tom opened up his garage and started his business “Parkers motors” where he fixed his family and friends cars while farming his farm land. Not that he wasn’t busy enough, Tom drove the school bus for over 20 years. Tom was very active in his community church, Birch River United. Tom drew a lot of strength from his faith and wore out many bibles with his daily devotions to reading God’s word. Tom’s legacy of faith he left to his family, was not so much his words but his actions which, modelled a true Christian walk.

Tom was predeceased by his wife, Ivy Parker. He will be sorrowfully missed by his son Craig Parker (Lesley); grandchildren Jarryd and Grace; also by Glenn Almas who he loved as his own son, and grandchildren Courtney (Tex) Gillis and Laura Almas; great-granddaughter Akira.

Funeral service was held on Friday, October 14th, 2016 at 11:00 AM from St. Andrews United Church, Swan River, Manitoba with Reverend Dr. Jenny Sprong officiating.

Following the service, Tom was laid to rest in the Crandell Cemetery, Birch River, Manitoba.

Should friends so desire, memorial donations in Thomas’s honour maybe made to Focus on the Family Canada (19946 80A Avenue, Langley, B.C. V2Y 0J8)

Cremation has taken place at Heritage Memorial Gardens, Swan River, Manitoba.
