Sandra Lynn Cooke: 1957 - 2017

Sandra Lynn Cooke of Swan River, MB passed away in the Swan Valley Health Centre on April 13, 2017 at the age of 59. Sandra was born in Watrous, SK on May 14, 1957 to John and Doris Regier. She graduated with an Education degree from the University of Regina when she was 21. Right after university she married Doug Cooke on June 10, 1978 in Drake, SK. The next ten years were filled with horses, building a new house and home site, and the births of their three children.

Some of Sandra’s favourite things were being active and being outside. She enjoyed horseback riding, snowmobiling, skating, swimming, gardening, riding bikes, and camping. She had an appreciation for music and playing the piano, especially if it was in a worship band with her kids. Family was one of the most important things in life to Sandra. As her kids grew up she embraced and encouraged their hobbies and interests, supporting anything they were involved in. Sandra’s satisfaction of being a mom could only be rivaled by her joy of being a grandma. There was nothing more important to her when the grandkids were around than spending quality time together.

Outside of her family, Sandra was always looking for ways to encourage or help people. She enjoyed giving baking, meals, house items, Christian books and CDs, or her home painting services. A teacher at heart, she spent over fourteen years instructing many children in academics, sports and Bible lessons.

She was predeceased by her father, John Regier and will be lovingly remembered by her husband Doug Cooke; children, Ryan Cooke (Falon), Chris Cooke (Nikki) and Mandy Cooke; mother, Doris Regier; siblings, Larry Regier (Laurie), Janice Gerhardt (Mike) and Dale Regier (Patti); grandchildren, Kaela, Sam, Moriah, Ben and Maelle Cooke; mother-in-law, Mabel Cooke; sister-in-law Brenda Dyck (Gord); many other nieces, nephews, and other family.
