Russell Szlachtycz
August 15, 1929 ~ March 22, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years OldRussell Szlachtycz of Benito, Manitoba passed away at the Swan River Valley Health Center on March 22nd, 2016 at the age of 86 years.
Russell was born in the RM of Swan River on August 15th, 1929 to Frederick and Sophia Szlachtycz.
Russell lived on the farm until he met Eunice Mazuren they were married on November 8th, 1980.
Russell and Eunice moved back and forth from the farm to town, until they eventually moved permanently into Benito. For his final days he resided at the Benito Personal Care Home, due to Alzheimers.
Russell had not had children, so when he married Eunice and the grandchildren came along, he was “full out” grandpa, enjoying every second he could with them. Even his farm work would get put on hold when the grandkids arrived.
Russell’s hobbies included his grandchildren, farming, hunting, logging, ceramics, curling, mechanical and carpentry work, the Elks, Co-op board, Pool Elevator, and the Senior Center.
Russell is survived by his step-children Camie Crook (Edwin), Dennis Mazuren and Barbara Rogalski (Jerry); sister Irene Boiteau (Wilf); brother Mike Slater; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Russell was predeceased by his wife “dear Eunice” on September 19th, 2015.
