Ottilia "Janis" Keillor
January 2, 1920 ~ April 16, 2016 (age 96) 96 Years Old
Janis Keillor passed away peacefully on Sat. April 16th, 2016 at the Benito Health Center at the age of 96.
Born in Chicago, Ill. on January 2, 1920 to Sven Tjessem and Emily Larson Tjessem, Janis was the 3rd of 4 children.
On June 19, 1939 she eloped with her high school sweetheart, Walter (Bud) Keillor. Bud had moved to the Chicago area from Benito, MB with his family in 1928.
Together they filled their home with 6 children; Janis, Barbara, Phyllis, Bruce, Marilyn, Kathleen, and were blessed with 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
In 1974 Janis retired along with her husband and moved from Denver, Colorado to Alpine, MB where they farmed until Bud's passing in 1994. She eventually moved to the Benito Health Center.
Janis was predeceased by an infant sister, Ella, brothers Spencer and Roy, her father in 1957 and her mother in 1977.
Janis loved to sew and garden and spent many pleasant hours puttering in her yard. An active member of the Durban Covenant Church, a true lady, she lived her life by the Golden Rule. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
