Laura Ella Williamson of Swan River, Manitoba passed away on March 20th, 2015 at 6:45 PM at the Swan Valley Lodge.

Laura was born at Gilbert Plains, Manitoba on April 26th, 1913 to Thomas and Elizabeth Johnston. Her family moved to Minitonas, Manitoba when she was quite young. She received her schooling there. Later they moved to Bowsman to farm. It was there that Laura met her husband-to-be, Don Williamson. The Williamson’s farmed across the road from the Johnson’s. They were married in Bowsman United Church on December 12th, 1934. They moved to Bellsite for a few years before Don went to Westgate and started his sawmill business. Laura followed soon after, in 1942 cooking for the many men and children there as well as her own family while she raised 8 children of her own.

In 1965 the family moved to Swan River, Manitoba. Laura worked at the Swan Motel for Orvalle Minish and also at the Valley Hotel cooking. She retired at the age of 65 years. Laura and Don had a music band for years. She loved playing her steel guitar. They played with the Goledn Agers in the Playhouse Theatre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Laura enjoyed her life; always taking time for family and friends. She resided in her own home until the age of 100 with her daughter Carole.

Laura was predeceased by: her husband Donovan; an infant son Barry; son Lloyd; daughter Mavis; and sons-in-law Russell and Larry.

She leaves to mourn: son Harley (Dorotyh); daughter Faye (Arthur); daughter Carole; son Dale (Colleen); daughter Diane (James); son Darwin; daughter-in-law Sandra as well as 26 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren and many extended family members.
