It is with great sorrow the family announces the sudden passing of Joanne Denise Galbraith on Tuesday, February 17th, 2015 in Swan River, Manitoba at the age of 53 years.

Left to cherish her memory are: Her mother Josie, her brothers Alvin, Lloyd and Michael; her niece Rachel and nephew Aidan as well as other extended family members and her friends.

Joanne was born in Roblin, Manitoba to Josie and Alex Wisnoski on August 26th, 1961. She was raised in Leaf Rapids, Manitoba and Attended school at LREC Leaf Rapids. Through Stratford Career Institution she studied Animal Sciences. She had a passion for animals and she got to spend some time even working where there were exotic animals as well as doing some work with farm animals.

Over the years her employment took her in various directions. She cooked in isolated camps, worked at the COOP bakery and also did road construction for a couple of summers.

Joanne enjoyed the outdoors and participated in fishing, hunting, and camping at a very young age. She had the ability to see the world as it really is when she effortlessly sketched wildlife in its natural habitat.

Joanne loved to travel. With all the newness she experienced in her travel it was hard not to come away with more than a just a souvenir.

Joanne took pride in gardening. She had the ability to grow a few herbs and vegetables and be able to create and preserve something in abundance with it on her kitchen counter. She pampered her indoor and outdoor plants with care.

Yet a new calling came to her when she became involved with the caring profession; patience, gentleness, and truly caring whole heartedly for the aging and disabled.

Joanne was a great co-worker and friend.  Joanne she was a caring, loving and understanding person.  She took great pride in her work and the friendships that she formed.  With each passing moment she always had others in mind.  One of the things she loved was her blue truck.  She took pride in that truck. She was very mechanical it was nothing for her to lend a hand when fixing a lawn mower or tinkering around at work.

She has left us with a positive outlook on life, Joanne was not scared to take a chance or a risk, she had the ability to see the forest for the trees and find great pleasure in the simple things in life. Be it a sun rise with amazing colors or a stunning sun set with clouds sweeping across the sky.

As a friend, family member and co-worker Joanne will be truly missed.

God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be.

So he wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, “come to me”.

You didn’t deserve what you went through, so he gave you rest.

God’s garden must be beautiful. He only takes the best.

And now that you are sleeping…so peaceful and free from pain,

I could not wish you back, to suffer that again.

A funeral service was held on Friday, February 27th, 2015 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Heritage Memorial Gardens, Swan River, Manitoba. Paull Funeral Home Celebrant, Darlyn Hunt, officiated the service.  Following the service a fellowship luncheon was held in the Rose Room of Heritage Memorial Gardens. Cremation has taken place and Joanne will be laid to rest at a later date.
